BIOGRAFÍA ARTÍSTICA de Antonio Gualda
(como pintor, dibujante, etc...).
ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY of Antonio Gualda
(as painter, draftsman, etc ...).
Antonio Gualda was born in Granada (Spain) in 1946. From small it showed his inclination by the Arts, emphasizing, of among them, the Painting, the Symphonic Musical Composition and Literature.
Antonio Gualda, in its facet of painter, began of self-taught way, drawing of the natural one or copying of "viñetas" of the "comics". His Manuel brother gave to him, when he was only eleven years old, a book on the drawing to "plumilla", with which he ventured himself in that difficult world. He studied with different teachers (Miguel Ruiz of del Castillo, Pillar Gª Zapater, etc...), and made studies in the School of Arts and O. of Granada. In addition, he received the advice of artists of the prestige of Iván Piñerúa, Manuel Reyes Gutiérrez (National Prize of Wood Stature) and of Antonio Gámez, among others.
His paintings range from oil to the most daring expressions (acrylics on packaging boxes, oils on white on "collages", etc ...).
Gualda has made different individual exhibitions (emphasizing those that took place in the Room " Cartel" of Granada and in the room of the "Council Maria Star"). Also, it has participated in another exhibitions, celebrated in the House of the Culture of Maracena (non Macarena), in the "Acvra", in the Club "Adara", the Escolapios of Granada, Casa Amatller de Barcelona, Centro Cívico del Zaidín, Fundación Caja-Granada, Palacio Cabral de Lisboa (Portugal), Durango (México), Minas Gerais (Brasil), etc...

PRESS REVIEWS, COMMENTS and LETTERS on
the Painting of Antonio Gualda.
Sabas de Hoces, in the magazine " Ritmo", wrote on Gualda: "Antonio Gualda has a polyhedral mind; it is -as the divine Dalí would say - like the eyes of the flies: dot, composes and writes, and, in addition, all it does well... ".
Antonio Gámez wrote in the newspaper "Ideal" of Granada: "Antonio Gualda processes the x-rays of its core with a brutales transparency and fit, being totally sincere and honest... Antonio Gualda purifies claroscuro of Toledo of the Greco, the spiritual fever of Lautrec and the skepticism, sarcasm and poeticismo of Picasso, from where part to take a step more in the creative speech of the Art of the Painting".
Antonio Gámez, in manuscript of the 17 of December of 1987 (about the painting collection titled "The Dreams Blacks & Whites of Antonio Gualda"):
"... The wire happens of conscious and unconscious experiences of the author, who ends at the memory made metaphor. The way that leads to the Art can be a sum of disappointment and frustrations, or "congratulations", assumed, which they float in the memory of the memories, but redeemed on a par in the subliming of the same tragedy - representation -, recovering the essence of its scenic representation: the space and the time are confabulan in the impossible dream of the distances, in arcane of the mirrors, combining the wished image. Indeed, this impossible dream of the recovered memory - its childhood, its family, the youth of the "Electrical Duo", the adolescence of pentagramas and sounds, the furtive loves, letters without answer, signs in the air of a thought without glance, lost boat front to the coasts of Ítaca -, everything, is solved confronting the aesthetic conflict, and the ethical one, that take place in the skin of this work. Antonio Gualda invents his endriago, its demiurge, persecuting to the man who takes with himself, gropingly, in the most visceral zone, more hurt being diaphanous, sincere, is transparent the light-dark, the target-black, the radical answer of the existence. It is prohibited, consciously, to image and similarity of he himself, and here it is one of the keys of this collection (builds), and, simultaneously, success: the cathartic function that produces the creativity, the.redemption of the human being through the symbol, of the change, of the metamorphosis, where the paradox of the magic of the Art keeps awake
its "desnudeces" to us and we assumed without faults nor remorses, generously enriched, to fuse to us in the long dream of the memories and the lived images. Kafka was right; Calderón, also. Perhaps, the best thing of the experience of the artist is intransferible".
Gómez Segade, in the newspaper "Ideal" of Granada of October 3, 1987: "Antonio Gualda has a qualified pictorial nerve... Antonio Gualda has, in effect, a febrile activity like creator and educational, that reveals it like an enthusiastic one of the Art conceived like vital and moved expression. To Antonio Gualda it has left to boy pentagrama, and needs other expressive means to border the eddy of feelings that oppress to him when it creates... (Its painting) she is full of "printings", ambiguous compositions, visual metaphors and of multitude of associations between nature it makes specific and pure cromatism, that they connect with the sinesthesic will of its author... Some of their "compasses" reveal a qualified pictorial nerve, like "Triplex nº 2", "After the Psicodeli " ," Sedotto and abandonato ", the "Watercolor nº the 40" and landscapes in the property of Duke de Wellington...".
Eva V. Galán, in "Granada-2000": "Antonio Gualda, starting off of last "fauves", is rebelled against the horrors of the war, specially, in its great painting "Murdered of one night of Summer (Hiroshima in Memoriam)".
Dámaso G. Alonso, to the being invested like academic with the Real Academy of Beautiful (Fine) Arts Santa Isabel of Hungary:
"Antonio Gualda, the always combative and hard man in the fight by the culture... Faithful c companion of way... ".
